In mid 2023, I developed a standalone camera device to be mounted on vehicles.
The use case was for collecting photos of the roads for archival reasons, eg to determin any damage or changed over time.
The client was using an off the shelf solution, but wanted better image quality.
I developed a camera box, which uses a Raspberry Pi and camera module.
The whole system is very cost effective, as the Raspberry Pi is under AU$100 and the camera module was a similar price.
The device was road-tested and worked as intended. Some minor bugs were worked out, like the frequency of saving GPS positions, based on distance rather than time.
The client was quite happy with the solution. However due to management changes, they likely had a change of direction and initiatives. Maybe one day they will need more of them.
