I never expected to upskill in teh QA field, but I have!
I worked casually for Ditto (edge-computing data sync platform) to test software on mobile devices, which slowly expanded to more software test case development.
In late 2023 I took on a permanent part time contract role as a QA Engineer. This commonly involved writing tests for different SDK platforms, to test new features and fixes before final release.
My experience with QA shifted more towards the technical software side, as opposed to exploratory testing and autonomy. But I still learned a lot about the testing process, how to make sure the software is supposed to do the things it's meant to do, tracking any issues and communicating with developers when needed.
